Arsenal could sign a new right-back

Arsenal could make the move for a new right-back if Hector Bellerin heads through the exit door this month.

Bellerin fell out-of-favour during the back end of last season with competition from Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers.

He has two years left on his contract, but it has been widely reported that he wants to leave the club before the deadline.

The Gunners have yet to receive any suitable bids. They could yet accept a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer.

According to The Mail, the north London club may pursue a new right-back if Bellerin leaves the club in the coming days.

Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier is the prime target for the Gunners, but they face a huge stumbling block over the fee.

Atletico are not actively looking to sell the 30-year-old. They are eyeing at least £40m, twice the figure they bought him for.

The Gunners may be reluctant to pay more than £25m for him.
