Van de Beek was denied Everton loan move

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek was denied a potential move to Everton on deadline day.

The Dutchman has been a fringe player for the Red Devils since arriving from Ajax last summer.

The Toffees were interested in signing him on loan on Tuesday, but a deal did not materialise with United.

According to AD, Van de Beek was open to the temporary switch after being starved of regular game time.

However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked his potential loan exit before the transfer window shut.

The midfielder has not commented on the decision, but his agent has hit out at the Red Devils' hierarchy.

Guido Albers revealed that there was plenty of transfer interest in his client. Bundesliga clubs were also keen.

However, United refused to co-operate as Solskjaer was determined to keep hold of the Dutchman's services.

Solskjaer has spoken glowingly about Van de Beek in the past, but the midfielder has not necessarily played.

He may assess his position for the rest of the year before considering whether to push for an exit in January.
