Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard is prepared to run down the final year of his contract unless he is assured regular game time.

The England international had a promising loan spell at West Ham United earlier his year, bagging nine goals and six assists.

Despite the huge success, he decided against rejoining them permanently during the recently-concluded transfer window.

According to ESPN, Lingard has no plans of extending his United deal that expires at the end of the current campaign.

The forward has played just four minutes this term. He is unlikely to pen a new contract unless he is assured regular minutes.

Otherwise, he is prepared to head for the exit door. He can sign a pre-contract with an overseas club at the turn of the year.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich were among the high-profile teams linked with him during the last transfer window.

They could pounce on the opportunity to secure his services. Lingard will receive a significant signing-on fee if he leaves for free.
