Everton to make January move for Arsenal midfielder?

Maitland-Niles to Everton?

Everton will make a fresh approach to sign Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles when the transfer window reopens.

The 24-year-old was desperate to join the Toffees on loan last month, but the Gunners made it clear that he was not leaving.

It is still uncertain whether he will get playing time, and ESPN reports that the Toffees could try again to sign him in the New Year.

The Merseyside outfit proposed a loan deal with an option to buy this summer. They will push for a permanent move in January.

Maitland-Niles will enter the final 18 months of his contract this winter, and the Gunners may be tempted to sanction his sale.

He was valued at around £20m this summer, but may have to lower their valuation ahead of the winter transfer window.

The Gunners return from the international break with a home Premier League game against Norwich City tomorrow.

With Granit Xhaka suspended and Mohamed Elneny injured, Maitland-Niles could get some minutes in the centre of the park.
