Promising Arsenal midfielder could be recalled in January
Arsenal have the option of recalling Miguel Azeez from his ongoing loan stint at Portsmouth, football.london reports.
Azeez played a part in pre-season for the Gunners, but he was loaned out to Pompey to secure regular playing time.
Azeez had Championship offers, but the club preferred to send him to manager Danny Cowley, who aided Emile Smith Rowe's progress.
It is now reported that the Gunners have a recall option inserted into the loan contract that becomes active in the next transfer window.
The Gunners face the prospect of losing both Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey due to African Cup of Nations duty in January.
The tournament is scheduled between January 9 and February 6. Egypt and Ghana are among favourites to reach the final.
Hence, they could miss the services of both for nearly a month. Azeez could be brought back to fill the void left by the duo.
There is a high possibility that he could be loaned back to the League One club towards the end of the January transfer window.
