West Ham set to face competition for Manchester United attacker
West Ham United are set to face competition from several clubs in the pursuit of Jesse Lingard during the January transfer window.
The Manchester United attacker spent the backend of last season on loan with them, bagging nine goals and six assists.
It was anticipated that he would join them permanently, but he instead snubbed their advances to stay put with the Red Devils.
Lingard has 10 months left on his contract, and it is reported that contract talks have reached a standstill at the moment.
The 28-year-old wants assurances of regular game time in order to commit to a new long-term deal with the Mancunian giants.
Otherwise, he could be offloaded on a cut-price deal in January. The Hammers are likely to make a fresh move for him.
There could be further interest from his services from domestic clubs as well as overseas. He was linked with Atletico Madrid.
Everton were also credited with an interest. The Toffees are yearning for a new number 10 and could make a move this winter.
