Everton leading race to sign Manchester United attacker
Everton are reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard during the January transfer window.
Lingard has been sparingly used by the Red Devils this term, and he could leave the club soon with his contract expiring next summer.
According to Football Insider, West Ham United and Newcastle United are keen on the 28-year-old, but the Toffees are leading the pursuit.
Lingard would be keen to remain in the north-west if he were to leave, and this could reportedly offer the Toffees the edge over their rivals.
United value the England international at around £15 million, but it is unclear whether the Merseyside outfit will meet the valuation.
The club could not spend freely over the summer amid Financial Fair Play concerns, but they have eased their situation with James Rodriguez's sale.
They are likely to spend more at the turn of the year and the same has been confirmed by manager Rafael Benitez in recent press conferences.
