Liverpool keen on new Salah deal before January

Liverpool's hierarchy are keen to finalise a new contract with Mohamed Salah before the turn of the year, Football Insider claims.

The Egypt international has 20 months remaining on his contract, and the club have not made any progress over a suitable extension.

Salah is currently on £200,000-a-week and it has been claimed that his agent is looking for £500,000 weekly from the Reds.

The Reds are unlikely to break their salary structure for Salah, but seem prepared to offer a significant signing-on fee.

The club's owners are eager to sort out his future before the end of the year and believe negotiations could get tougher thereon.

Salah recently talked about spending the rest of his career with the Merseyside giants for whom he has scored 140 goals.

The Reds have plenty of contract decisions to make. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino also have 20 months left on their deals.

There has previously been speculation that Firmino could be shown the exit door, but that may not be the case with his current scoring form.
