Solskjaer leaves Man Utd

Manchester United have confirmed that they have mutually parted ways with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils suffered a shock 4-1 Premier League loss to Watford yesterday. It was their fifth defeat in seven league games.

After an emergency board meeting, the club have now taken the decision to end Solskjaer's three-year stint as manager.

It has been confirmed that Michael Carrick will take temporary charge with an interim coach expected to be announced soon.

There are no frontline candidates to take the hot seat, but reports claim that Laurent Blanc could be an option for the club.

They have also been linked with Ralf Rangnick, who has built his reputation in developing young and emerging stars.

Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui of Sevilla has been earmarked as the leading candidate for the full-time head coach position.

The Red Devils will wait until the summer to make a permanent appointment, but the Spaniard is their main managerial target.

Sevilla will demand a compensation fee of around £5 million.
