Chelsea defender set to sign new contract?

According to UOL, Silva prefers to stay put with the Blues for another season rather than seeking a return to Brazil.

With the World Cup next winter, Silva wants to play at the highest level to keep himself in contention to make the squad.

Talks are already underway with the player's representatives, and a new deal could be finalised before the turn of the year.

The club are also in negotiations with Andreas Christensen, and are optimistic of extending his deal in the near future.

Christensen's current contract expires next summer, but the club are hopeful of prolonging his stay for another five seasons.
