Chilwell picks up serious knee injury

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed a double injury blow ahead of the club's Premier League meeting versus Manchester United.

N'Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell picked up knee injuries against Juventus in midweek, and the latter has now been ruled out for the long-term.

Chilwell has sustained an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury, and he could be sidelined for the campaign if he requires an operation.

Meanwhile, Kante has yet to recover from a twisted knee, and Tuchel has said that it would be a miracle if he deemed fit to play on Sunday.

Aside from the duo, Mateo Kovacic has been ruled out with a hamstring issue, but Kai Havertz could return to the matchday squad.

Havertz was substituted early last weekend with a tight hamstring, and he subsequently missed the midweek Champions League game.

The German has been deemed fit to make his comeback, but he may start on the bench with his teammates in better form at the moment.
