Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is keen on joining Barcelona when the transfer window reopens next month.

The Uruguayan bagged 17 goals for the Red Devils last season, and he was convinced to stay with the club for another year.

However, his game time has reduced drastically this term. He has barely started games with Cristiano Ronaldo preferred to lead the line.

Cavani is currently recovering from a tendon injury, but The Times claims that he is already assessing his options ahead of the New Year.

The 34-year-old considers the Blaugrana as his dream club, and he has already given the go-ahead for his representative to hold talks.

It is unclear whether the Catalan giants will consider signing him in January. It may depend on the fitness of summer signing Sergio Aguero.

Aguero is currently sidelined with a heart problem. This could force the Blaugrana to enter the market for a new marksman this winter.

Cavani could be available for a knockdown price of around £5 million with his contract expiring at the end of the ongoing campaign.
