Anthony Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley has confirmed that the forward wants to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window.

Martial's game time has reduced significantly this term with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been almost ever-present up front.

The forward is presently nursing a knee injury. Lamboley has now revealed that his client wants to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere.

He told Sky Sports News: "Anthony wishes to leave the club in January. He just needs to play. He doesn't want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon."

Lyon were interested in Martial during the last transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise after United's decision to sell Daniel James.

The Frenchman has managed just 110 league minutes since then. He needs regular game time to push for a World Cup berth next winter.

Martial was a regular with France earlier this year, but he has been dropped for recent international games amid his lack of regular playing time.
