Mikel Arteta heaps praise on Arsenal playmaker after Southampton win
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Martin Odegaard following the club's 3-0 Premier League win over Southampton.
The Gunners returned to winning ways after two losses. Odegaard was among the goalscorers. The Norwegian headed in the club's second goal.
He has now netted in each of his last three games. Speaking after the game, Arteta was delighted for Odegaard, and believes he is a match winner.
He told Arsenal.com: "He is a match winner - that’s the difference between a very good player and a match winner. We need more of those players on the pitch, to win more of our games."
The Gunners have moved to sixth in the standings after the win. They are now one point behind fourth-placed West Ham, who have a game in hand.
They are scheduled to face the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, and they could go ahead of their London rivals.
Arteta may stick with the same line-up from the Saints win. It remains to be seen whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns to the matchday squad.
The captain was missing for the Southampton game due to a disciplinary breach.
