Torres set for Barcelona switch

Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres is reportedly on the cusp of joining Barcelona on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old has been earmarked as the Blaugrana's prime target for January, and a deal is close to being finalised.

The Blaugrana have agreed to pay an initial €55 million for Torres. A further €10m will be adjusted in the form of add-ons.

Torres has already given the green light for the move. The Spain international has agreed personal terms over a five-year deal.

According to Sport, the transfer could be finalised in the next 48 hours. The player is scheduled to undergo his medical soon.

Aside from Torres, the Catalan giants have their sights on landing Edinson Cavani from Manchester United in the coming days.

Xavi Hernandez is keen to have both players in the squad for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Madrid on January 12.

The Blaugrana have spending restrictions set by La Liga. The arrival of the duo could coincide with some high-profile exits next month.
