Sevilla have reportedly joined Barcelona in the race to sign Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani next month.

Barcelona are currently on the cusp of landing Ferran Torres from Manchester City, but they are still interested in Cavani.

The Uruguayan will enter the final six months of his contract in January. It has been reported that he could be sold for a nominal fee.

The Blaugrana are planning an approach, but it appears they could face stiff competition from their La Liga counterparts.

Sevilla are currently in the title race with leaders Real Madrid. They are presently eight points adrift with a game in hand.

The club have lacked the presence of a genuine goalscorer in the squad. Rafa Mir has been their most successful with just five goals.

Cavani could bring about a difference in their fortunes up front, and they could have the edge over the Blaugrana in terms of wages.

The 34-year-old is currently on £250,000-a-week, and he is reportedly reluctant to accept a significant pay-cut to join the Blaugrana.
