Newcastle United keen on landing ex-Liverpool star
Newcastle United are keen on a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Dutchman joined Les Parisiens last summer following the expiry of his contract at Liverpool.
He has since struggled to nail down a regular starting role, and L'Equipe claims that he could return to the Premier League.
Wijnaldum bagged 11 goals and five assists for the Magpies in 2015/16 before he made the switch to Jurgen Klopp's side.
The Tyneside outfit are keen on a potential reunion, but it is unclear whether Les Parisiens will sanction a mid-season deal.
The club are set to lose Idrissa Gueye next month due to African Cup of Nations duty. They are reluctant to sell Wijnaldum.
Newcastle are expected to spend big during the January transfer window after their takeover from a Saudi-led consortium.
They have been unsuccessful with a couple of transfer bids. They recently failed with an approach to sign Lyon's Lucas Paqueta.
The Magpies are likely to face further disappointments due to the fact that they are languishing in the 19th spot on the league table.
