Chelsea to make approach for Erling Haaland
Borussia Dortmund have asked Erling Haaland to make a decision on his long-term future, amidst interest from Chelsea. Numerous clubs are monitoring Haaland's availability, but Chelsea appear to be in pole position to sign the youngster.
The 21-year-old has caught the attention of the world's top football teams, with the Norway international having a £68 million minimum fee release clause included in his Borussia Dortmund contract. Chelsea are ready to match that fee as they prepare to offload Romelu Lukaku after just six months. It is understood that the Blues are prepared to pay upwards of £100 million to land the striker that they believe is to become the best forward on the planet.
Dortmund have asked Haaland and the player's representatives to make a decision with regards to his future before the end of January, so that the club can find a long-term striking successor. It is understood that Haaland would like to stay at Signal Iduna Park until the summer, and that is exactly the same time as when the player's minimum fee release clause is activated.
Chelsea will have to do battle with several of Europe's top clubs, with Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona all amongst those monitoring the youngster's transfer situation.
