Arsenal have confirmed the temporary move of Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Roma.

The midfielder struggled for regular minutes under manager Mikel Arteta this term. He has now joined Roma on a short-term loan without an option to buy.

The Giallorossi could revisit for a permanent deal during the summer transfer window. They have a verbal agreement with the Gunners to buy him.

Meanwhile, the decision to loan him out comes as a surprise as Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are currently away on international duty.

The duo could be absent for the rest of the month. Speaking in yesterday's press conference, Arteta said that the club could sign a new midfielder.

Lyon's Bruno Guimaraes is a potential target for the north London giants, but he won't come cheaply with a price tag of around €45 million.

The Gunners are also rumoured to be interested in Palmeiras' Danilo. However, the Brazilian outfit don't have plans to sell him at the moment.
