Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a cut-price deal for Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.

The England international had a terrific loan spell with West Ham United during the second half of last season.

He bagged nine goals and five assists from just 16 games. Despite this, he was not allowed to join them permanently.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to keep him while Lingard was also pleased to fight for his future with the Red Devils.

He has since barely played for the club. His situation has remained unchanged despite the change of head coach.

Lingard has now entered the final six months of his contract, and he could be sold by United before the transfer deadline.

West Ham United are keen on re-signing him, but the Red Devils are likely to snub them due to their top-four rivalry.

Newcastle are also interested in his services. They are looking to sign the attacker for a bargain fee of just £3 million.
