Chelsea make contact with 16-goal striker

Chelsea have made contact with the representative of Jonathan David regarding a summer move, TSN claims.

The Canada international had an average debut season with Lille last term, but he has gone from strength-to-strength this campaign.

He has already netted 16 goals from 29 appearances, and his progress has caught the eye of the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal.

The Blues have now entered the transfer pursuit, and it is reported that they have made contact with his entourage over a summer deal.

David is contracted with Lille until June 2025, but the French champions are aware that he will leave at the end of the season.

They are in a strong position to command a big fee. It has been reported that they could hold out for around £45m this summer.

The Blues currently have Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner as the specialist strikers, but neither have sufficiently impressed to date.

Both have been linked with summer exits. Werner has been fancied to return to Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund keen.
