James Milner to extend Liverpool stay
Veteran midfielder James Milner will be offered an extension to his current deal at Anfield, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitting that the player is too important to let go. Milner has 6 months remaining on his current deal with the club.
The 37-year-old former Aston Villa, Leeds United and Newcastle United midfield has caught the eye in recent seasons, for his versatility and work rate.
Milner has been deployed as a makeshift fullback, despite his preferred position being in midfield.
"There are talks (with Milner), but usually we don’t comment about that," said manager Klopp
“There is no reason for it, but I am in talks, the club is in talks with Milly, so we will see.
“So you can surely extend your career as long as you can so if you can play football, it is better than other things.
“Milly will be fine after his career as well, but he obviously loves what he is doing and he will play football next year, definitely.”
Milner is likely to be offered a new deal in the coming month.
