Man Utd pushing for Akanji

Manchester United are prepared to hand a bumper wage package to Manuel Akanji if he joins from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The Swiss will enter the final year of his Dortmund deal in July, and there is speculation that he could be sold for a cut-price fee.

Akanji is currently on wages of around £80,000-a-week, and he is eyeing at least £160,000-a-week to extend his stay at Dortmund.

However, the German outfit are reluctant to pay more than £110,000-a-week, and this could pave the way for his summer departure.

United are one of the player's main admirers. Bild reports that they may look to beat off competition with a significant contract offer.

While they are willing to meet the £20m price tag, the club could also offer wages of nearly £240,000-a-week to join them this summer.

Akanji has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, but it is known that he has the long-term ambition of playing in the Premier League.
