Chelsea defender on his way to Barcelona this summer

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen appears set to join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer, Sport claims.

The Denmark international has just four months left on his Blues contract, and he has no plans of putting pen-to-paper on a fresh deal.

Hence, he is likely to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere. The Blaugrana are reportedly close to landing his signature.

The club initially made contact with the centre-back last summer, and advanced talks were held in January 2022.

It is now reported that the Dane will sign a four-year contract with the Blaugrana. A formal announcement could be made soon.

Aside from Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta could also leave on free transfers at the end of the season.

Rudiger is engaged in talks with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, having snubbed a contract renewal.

Azpilicueta has a two-year contract offer from Barcelona with the option for another 12 months. He is likely to accept the move.
