Barcelona and Real Madrid have entered the hunt to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to Fichajes.

The Spaniard has just 16 months remaining on his existing deal, and has no plans of putting pen-to-paper over a renewal.

Hence, he is expected to be sold during the summer. It appears there could be fierce competition from elite European clubs.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a firm admirer of Ruiz, but the club will need to beat the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for his services.

The north London giants can assure him regular game time, but they may need to qualify for the Champions League to convince him.

Meanwhile, Napoli are likely to hold out for at least €40 million despite knowing that the player can sign a pre-contract in January 2023.

There are no clear favourites to sign Ruiz at the moment, but the La Liga clubs could have the edge if he decides to return home.
