Paris Saint-Germain enter race for Man Utd defensive target

Paris Saint-Germain have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo this summer.

Araujo will enter the final year of his contract in July. There are suggestions that he could be sold by the Catalan giants.

The Uruguayan has shown the desire to stay at the club, but the hierarchy have refused to meet his current contract demands.

He is eyeing an annual salary of around €10m, but the Blaugrana are reluctant to hand him more than €4m at the moment.

This could pave the way for his summer departure. United are keen admirers, but they are set to face competition from PSG.

Les Parisiens are planning to reinforce their central defence, particularly with concerns over the displays of Presnel Kimpembe.

The club bowed out of the Champions League last night, and this could trigger another spending spree in the next transfer window.

Araujo could be available for around €35m. Les Parisiens may have the edge if United fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.
