Arsenal favourites to sign attacker with 31 goal contributions

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Liverpool target Cody Gakpo this summer.

The Gunners were linked with the Dutchman in January, but a transfer did not materialise between the clubs.

Gakpo signed a new long-term deal in the same period, but reports claim that he could be sold during the summer.

According to Voetbal International, the Gunners are now in pole position to land the services of the 22-year-old.

Gakpo has primarily played on the left wing this campaign. He has excelled with 16 goals and 15 assists from 37 appearances.

The Gunners are well covered in the position, but the Dutchman is also capable of playing on the right wing or as a striker.

His versatile ability may have caught the Gunners' radar, but he is unlikely to come on the cheap in the next transfer window.

PSV sold Hirving Lozano to Napoli for a record €40m fee. They are expected to demand a slightly higher figure for Gakpo.
