Manchester United have been handed a potential boost in signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

The Red Devils are braced for the departure of midfielder Paul Pogba when his contract concludes at the end of June.

Milinkovic-Savic has been earmarked as a like-for-like replacement, and the club have now received a timely boost.

Lazio have been reluctant to lose the Serbian over the years, but are now prepared to sanction his summer departure.

Having spent nearly seven seasons at the club, the 27-year-old feels it is finally time to pursue a bigger challenge elsewhere.

Lazio wanted in upwards of €100m previously, but they are willing to accept a reduced sum between €60-65m this summer.

United are long-term admirers of the midfielder, but they can still expect to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

While personal terms won't be a concern, United may need to qualify for the Champions League to convince him to join them.

Juventus have also been linked with Milinkovic-Savic, but are unlikely to spend big after the huge January outlay on Dusan Vlahovic.
