Erik ten Hag identifies his number one transfer target
Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has his sights on signing Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia this summer.
The Dutchman was keen on pursuing the left-back for Ajax last summer, but they could not negotiate a suitable fee.
He is now prepared to try again as United's head coach. The Mirror claims that a fee of around £20m could be sufficient.
Malacia has built his reputation as a tireless full-back, who has impressed with his distribution and strong tackling skills.
These qualities make him an ideal fit for Ten Hag, who tends to prefer full-backs, who are comfortable in the build-up play.
Luke Shaw and Alex Telles are currently the left-back options at United, but the latter is widely expected to leave this summer.
He has struggled to cope with the defensive demands, and recently had a dismal outing against Chelsea's Reece James at Old Trafford.
The Brazil international has been linked with a possible return to Porto this summer.
