Manchester United are reportedly keen on landing the services of RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele.

The Frenchman has just 13 months remaining on his Leipzig contract, and it appears for certain that he will leave the club this summer.

United have been one of his long-term admirers and Foot Mercato reports that they are now planning to make a formal transfer approach.

It is added that Ralf Rangnick could play a key role in the pursuit, having previously signed Mukiele for Leipzig in the summer of 2018.

The German has a good relationship with the 24-year-old, and United believe his influence could be key to luring the former Montpellier man.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also keen on Mukiele, but United are optimistic about their chances of signing him.

Mukiele is a right-back by trade, but can also play in the right wing-back and central defensive roles. He has been lauded for his attacking style.

The Frenchman should be an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot, who have failed to register a goal or an assist this term.
