Chelsea days away from signing French star

Chelsea are reportedly on the cusp of signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer.

The Frenchman is the top defensive target for the Blues, and they are currently in the process of making a formal offer.

The club are willing to pay between €60-65m for the player, and Sport claims that Sevilla are likely to accept their proposal.

It could be only a 'matter of days' before they sign him. A deal may depend on how fast Sevilla can land a replacement.

Sevilla have their sights on Marseille's Duja Caleta-Car, but it remains to be seen whether they can secure a quick deal.

Aside from Kounde, Chelsea have their eye on pursuing another centre-back, but it may not be Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol.

The Bundesliga outfit have no plans of listening to offers for the Croatian. They are prepared to keep him for next season.

Villarreal's Pau Torres is another option being considered by the Blues, but they could face competition from Manchester United.
