Manchester United have been credited with an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio this summer.

The Portuguese centre-back had a tremendous breakthrough campaign last term, and he has now been touted for a bigger challenge.

United are said to be firm admirers of him, and A Bola cites that they are willing to trigger the €45 million release clause on his contract.

The Red Devils have been tipped to sign a new central defender this summer, and reports have claimed that Ajax's Jurrien Timber is the first choice.

However, it has also been cited that a left-footed centre-back could be an option. If that is the case, Inacio could perfectly fit the requirement.

He is just 20 years of age, and could be a quality long-term signing. He would be suitable for Erik ten Hag with his ball-playing ability.

The youngster completed over 90 per cent of his passes last term. He also chipped in with five goals and three assists from his 42 appearances.
