Chelsea need to pay €50m for Real Madrid defender
Chelsea will need to pay of around €50 million to sign Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy this summer, Spanish outlet AS reports.
The Blues are likely to sell Marcos Alonso during the ongoing transfer window amid strong interest from Barcelona.
This could urge them to pursue a solid replacement, and AS cites that Mendy is one of the top names on their radar.
Los Blancos are willing to sell the Frenchman this summer, but any interested club must meet their €50 million price tag.
It is unclear whether the Blues will make such a huge outlay, considering they have two more left wing-back options.
Ben Chilwell will be fully fit for the new season while Emerson has returned following his season-long loan spell with Lyon.
If they were to sign Mendy, there is a good possibility that Emerson could also be shown the exit door in the coming weeks.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in 27-year-old.
