Manchester City to bid £45 million for Marc Cucurella

Marc Cucurella is Manchester City’s No.1 target to improve the left-backdepartment. Less than 12 months, the Spaniard joined Brighton Getafe in a £ 15 million deal. Cucurella enjoyed a phenomenal debut season in England, making 38 appearances in all competitions as the Seagulls finished ninth in the Premier League.

To lower the price tag, Manchester City are ready to offer the England Under-20 international McAtee as part of the deal. Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Spaniard and with Olek Zincehnko’s future uncertain, Manchester City needs a backup for Jao Cancelo.

Even with Cancelo's natural position being right back, he was primarily used as a left-back this season, being the most consistent and less rotated player in Pep Guardiola's team. Marc Cucullera is expected to be a backup, or he might be used when Cancelo is moved to the right. But, we expect that he will get solid game time, especially considering the fact that Manchester City will have a lot of games this season both in domestic and international competitions.

If this deal doesn't go through, Guardiola has shortlisted Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell as a possible Cucurella alternative. The 22-year-old was called up to the England squad for the first time in March after an impressive season at Selhurst Park.
