Marseille want to sign William Saliba permanently
Marseille are making a strong effort to sign Arsenal defender William Saliba on a permanent basis this summer, Foot Mercato claims.
The French outfit signed the central defender on loan last summer. He was a key player for them as they finished second in Ligue 1.
Saliba recently confirmed that he is looking forward to pre-season with Arsenal, but Les Phoceens are still keen on a permanent move.
Jorge Sampaoli's side were initially said to be expecting a transfer ban, but have now been given the go-ahead to sign players by DNCG.
Saliba is obviously the top defensive target for the French outfit, and they are prepared to test the Gunners' resolve with a bid of around £35m.
The 21-year-old has yet to make his competitive debut for the Gunners despite signing three years ago. He has had three separate loan stints.
With two years left on his contract, the Gunners could be tempted to sell him if he does not renew. He was signed for £27m from Saint-Etienne.
