Manchester United have made an opening bid for Ajax winger Antony which has been rejected, Goal claims.

The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their attack this summer, and Antony has recently emerged as a top transfer target.

It is now reported that they have made a €60m offer for the Brazilian which has been turned down by the Dutch champions.

Ajax are reluctant to lose Antony during the current transfer window unless United or any club meet their €80m valuation.

This has apparently stagnated negotiations between the clubs. It remains to be seen whether United make a fresh approach.

The Red Devils are currently concerned over the fitness of Antony, who sustained an ankle injury in March this year.

He has yet to return to full training with Ajax, and there are suggestions that he may not feature in their pre-season tour.

Hence, United are reluctant to pay more for his services, but their stance could change if he is deemed fit by August.
