Grimaldo wanted by Arsenal

Arsenal are interested in signing Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo this summer, according to Record.

The Gunners currently have Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares as their senior left-backs, but the former has suffered numerous injuries.

Meanwhile, Tavares has been far from impressive as the deputy, and there are suggestions that he could be loaned out this summer.

Amidst this, Record cite that the Gunners are keen on landing Grimaldo, who could be available for just £6.4m in the transfer window.

The Spaniard has rejected a new deal beyond June next year, and Benfica are determined to sell him rather than losing him for free.

Grimaldo has vast experience of nearly 250 games. He could be a much better signing than Tavares, who arrived from Benfica last year.

The former Barcelona graduate is good with his tackling and interceptions, but has also impressed with his contributions in the final third.

He bagged six goals and nine assists for the Primeira Liga outfit last term.
