Chelsea pushing to sign Premier League defender
Chelsea are reportedly determined to sign Manchester City defender Nathan Ake this summer.
The Blues are currently on the verge of signing Raheem Sterling from the Cityzens. This could be followed up by the purchase of Ake.
The Netherlands international has been with the Cityzens for the past two years, but he has largely been a back-up option for the club.
Chelsea are prepared to assure him with a regular starting position next term, but they are unlikely to sign him on the cheap this summer.
The Cityzens are eyeing at least £50 million up front for the versatile defender while they would also need to find a replacement first.
This is likely to delay the negotiations for the Dutchman, but the Blues are pretty optimistic that they can re-sign their former graduate.
Ake is a central defender by trade, but can also operate as a left wing-back. The Blues are willing to play him in both roles next season.
