Ronaldo staying at Man Utd - Ten Hag

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has affirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo remains in the club's plans for next season.

The Portugal international is reportedly keen on leaving the club to play Champions League, but has yet to make a formal request.

When pressed on the situation, Ten Hag emphasised that Ronaldo is only absent from the pre-season tour due to personal reasons.

He added that the club are planning for the new season with the 37-year-old and ruled out the prospect of him heading for the exit door.

He said in today's press conference: "He is not with us, and it is due to personal reasons. We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season.

"That’s it and I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is in our plans and we want to get success together."

Ronaldo won't play any part in the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia which will generate doubts regarding his club future.

While Ten Hag has dismissed the chances of him leaving, talks are ongoing behind the scenes between Ronaldo's representative and other clubs.

Premier League rivals Chelsea are considered as one of the favourites to sign him, but it is unclear whether United will do business with them.
