Man Utd confident of landing Arsenal target
Manchester United are feeling confident of landing Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have been in a constant dialogue with Ajax in recent weeks, and they are now positive about their chances of signing him.
Their latest offer of £42 million is still short of the £51m valuation, but Ajax are now willing to negotiate with the player wanting to move on.
Martinez has worked under manager Erik ten Hag for the past three years, and is keen on a reunion. He has reportedly agreed personal terms.
Meanwhile, United no longer face competition for the Argentine with Arsenal bowing out of the race due to Ajax's hefty transfer valuation.
Arsenal were hoping to sign Martinez for around £35m, and they have decided to look elsewhere as they are not desperate for a centre-back.
Martinez was seen as someone, who could also play at left-back for them. They will now look for a cheaper candidate in the transfer market.
