Man Utd close to sealing deal for 24-year-old

Manchester United are reportedly on the cusp of finalising the transfer of defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

The Red Devils have been in regular negotiations for the 24-year-old this month, and they have now received a big boost.

Their recent offer of €50m was rejected by Ajax, but the Dutch outfit have now opened the possibility of selling the defender.

According to De Telegraaf, the progress of finding a replacement has started with Ajax acknowledging the player's desire to move on.

Still, they are unlikely to negotiate on the fee, and it is claimed that United must pay a fixed sum of €55m up front to sign him.

It is likely that the Red Devils will meet their demands, considering Martinez is the prime defensive target for manager Erik ten Hag.

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with the Argentine, but they are unlikely to pay such a high price to secure his services.

Martinez has reportedly agreed personal terms with United.
