Mikel Arteta updates on William Saliba's contract
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club have plans of renewing the contract of William Saliba.
The Frenchman joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019, but has yet to make a competitive appearance for them.
Saliba is likely to end his long wait next season, but the Gunners may also need to focus on his contract expiring in two years' time.
Speaking to reporters in Orlando, Arteta confirmed that there are plans to prolong his stay, but it may take time to execute it.
He said: "We always have a plan and when we have to execute it, that’s a different story and football is a really funny game."
"We are really happy to have him and you can see the way he’s adapted, the way he’s matured and he’s playing well and we are delighted to have him."
Saliba has been a regular presence for Arsenal in pre-season, and could make his club debut against Crystal Palace on August 5.
