Arsenal midfielder makes switch to Turkish giants
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has made the move to Turkish giants Galatasaray for €6 million.
The Uruguayan fell out-of-favour under Mikel Arteta two years ago, and spent the last two seasons away on loan.
He had a tough stint at Atletico where he barely played, but was a key player for Fiorentina in the past campaign.
It was widely fancied that La Viola would re-sign him, but a dispute within the hierarchy pulled the plug on the deal.
Fiorentina had a buy-out clause of €15 million, but they wanted a 50 per cent discount from the Gunners to sign him.
The north London giants rejected their proposal, and they have now opted to sell him to Galatasaray for around €6 million.
The Gunners have accepted a significant loss to offload Torreira, considering he was signed for €27m from Sampdoria.
Torreira was once compared with Chelsea's N'Golo Kante for his workrate, but he did not live up to the early expectations.
