Josip Juranovic wanted by Chelsea and Man Utd
Premier League titans Chelsea and Manchester United are to do battle to sign Celtic defender Josip Juranovic before the transfer window closes, with a reported fee of £25 million suggested for the player's services. Celtic are holding out for more money, but a deal is likely to be agreed shortly.
After an impressive first season in Scotland playing for Celtic, the Croatian international has emerged as a possible target for the Premier League duo, both of whom deployed their head scout to monitor Juranovic's progress last season. The right-back, who can also play in central defence, has previous spells playing in Poland with Legia Warsaw and prior to that a variety of Croatian clubs.
During his first season at Celtic, the defender impressed so much that he earned a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year, as the club regained the title that bitter rivals Rangers had won in the season prior.
Man Utd are looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squad, despite the arrival of Lautaro Martinez already this summer. Meanwhile Chelsea will need cover in defence should Marcos Alonso depart for Barcelona, as expected.
