Boubakary Soumaré to leave Leicester City
Boubakary Soumaré to leave Leicester City
Boubakary Soumaré will leave the King Power Stadium this summer after an offer was accepted by the Foxes for the player. Monaco have tabled a 24 million euro offer for the midfielder, and Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the France under-21 international will be allowed to leave after just one season at the club.
Boubakary Soumaré arrived from Lille in 2021 having appeared 84 times for the French side, but just last season Soumare was only able to play in 19 Premier League games and found himself well down the pecking order at the club. After expressing his frustrations to Rodgers, both player and manager agreed that if a suitable offer is received, the midfielder would be given the green light to depart.
Rodgers confirmed yesterday that Soumare had an offer from Monaco: "There’s an opportunity that has come that interests him. It’s only right that if he’s not going to be here, we have to look at other players in that position."
It is understood that Leicester City will cover most of the money that they spent signing the player in 2021 with this sale.
