Thomas Tuchel provides injury update on N'Golo Kante
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that midfielder N'Golo Kante could be out for another four weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Frenchman sustained the setback during the 2-2 Premier League draw against Tottenham Hotspur, and he may not return anytime soon.
Speaking in today's press conference, the Blues boss acknowledged that Kante's injury is much serious than initially predicted by him.
When asked for a timescale, he said: "Talking about weeks, four weeks plus."
Kante has been a fantastic performer for the west London giants over the past six years, but he has become injury prone over the last 18 months.
He continues to retain the faith of the club and manager, but the Blues need to look into a potential replacement for the World Cup winner soon.
They are not eyeing a world-class defensive midfielder this summer, but they could certainly do so at the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign.
West Ham United's Declan Rice could be the main target. The England international is said to be keen on returning to his former club.
