Chelsea have entered negotiations with AC Milan over the potential transfer of Rafael Leao, according to The Times.

The west London giants are desperate to bolster their attack before the transfer deadline, and are looking at multiple options.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the initial prime target, but the Blues are reluctant to meet Barcelona's £20m fee.

Instead, they are now looking at Milan's Leao, but it seems highly unlikely that the Portuguese will move on this summer.

The 23-year-old has entered the final two years of his deal, but the Rossoneri may only sell for his £127m release clause.

Earlier today, the club confirmed their takeover from RedBird Capital Partners, and the new owners may not entertain a sale.

The consortium have plans to take Milan to the next level, and selling Leao before the deadline would undoubtedly anger their fans.

Hence, Chelsea may need to look elsewhere. It remains to be seen whether they can find alternative targets in the coming hours.
