Bamba Dieng moves to Leeds United

Leeds United will sign Senegal international forward Bamba Dieng from Marseille today in a deal worth 10 million euros. The 22-year-old striker comes for a bargain price as Dieng appears to have had a falling out with Marseille's management team, and demanded a transfer away from the club before the end of the window.

With 7 goals in 30 games, Dieng doesn't have a prolific goalscoring record in Ligue 1, but the 22-year-old is very highly rated and is regarded as one of Africa's brightest talents. Leeds United have lost Rodrigo through injury and the Elland Road side have moved swiftly to find a replaement in Dieng.

Since his arrival in France, Dieng has developed well and at international level the striker was a member of Senegal's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations winning team, scoring a penalty in the final.

A return of 7 goals in 25 Ligue 1 games appears to have not been enough to persuade the French side to keep hold of the player, though, and Jesse Marsch will be delighted that the club have moved swiftly to secure a forward before the end of the transfer window.
