Aston Villa sign Leander Dendoncker
Dendoncker arrived at Wolves from Anderlecht in 2019, and played over 100 times for the Molineux outfit in 3 years. Aston Villa have been chasing the Belgian for over two months and are delighted to have today finally sealed a transfer for the player.
Leander Dendoncker has agreed a deal to join Aston Villa from Wolves this afternoon. The Belgium international midfielder will sign a three year deal with Steven Gerrard's side, and is expected to be available for this weekend's Premier League game against Manchester City.
As Douglas Luiz looks likely to depart Villa Park this evening, Villa have moved swiftly to sign a replacement in Dendoncker. The transfer fee that has been paid is in the region of £14 million, and the Belgium will pen a four year deal with his new club.
In signing Dendoncker, Aston Villa have beaten Southampton and late interest from Arsenal, who had pursued a loan deal on transfer deadline day in a last minute attempted transfer deal.
Villa are hoping Dendoncker will help reverse a poor spell of form that has put manager Steven Gerrard under enormous pressure.
