Chelsea sign Aubameyang in cash plus player swap deal
Chelsea have finally completed a deal to sign Gabon international forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, with the forward arriving at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth £12 million that sees defender Marcos Alonso move the other way. The former Arsenal striker only just moved to Spain for a free transfer in January, and proves a lucrative deal for the Nou Camp side.
The 33-year-old has now become Chelsea's seventh summer signing, following on from yesterday's mega money deal for Wesley Fofana. Aubameyang will be available for this weekend's game, and it is understood the player has taken a pay cut to move to Stamford Bridge.
Since his move from Arsenal to Barcelona, Auba scored 13 goals in 24 games and it is understood there was a minimum fee release clause in the player's contract worth 100 million euros.
Alonso had told Chelsea representatives that he was desperate to leave for Barcelona, and he will finally get his wish today after the cash plus swap deal including Aubameyang was officially signed off by all parties.
